The Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission and its members have the powers and duties prescribed by the compact and the members of the commission are responsible for administering the provisions of the Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact. The States of Vermont and Texas are the party states. Texas is the host state for a low level radioactive waste disposal facility.

News about Rulemaking
The Commission has proposed rules to estimate the volume of waste to be disposed in the Compact site. Comments were due by July 26, 2009. At the August 19 meeting, the Commission voted to adopt the rule.
A Stakeholder meeting was held August 7 to receive public comment on export and import of waste and draft rules for export. A second stakeholder meeting will be held in September. The date will be announced and published in the Texas Register.
